Welcome Students & Families!
Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year here in Room 201, 8th Grade English, and 7th Grade Core.
This year we will become more powerful writers, readers and historians together as a classroom community.
Just a little bit about me: This is my fourth year at Stanley. I spent the past two years as a Wildcat, teaching 6th grade Core and last year I moved over to 8th Grade English. Prior to Stanley, I was a 5th grade teacher at Creekside Elementary School in San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Even before that, I taught 3rd and 4th grade at a K-8 Charter School in Los Angeles. Before I became a teacher I worked in marketing in the travel and tourism industry, also in Los Angeles. Although I still love to travel, my passions are teaching and writing. I am a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (Go Mustangs!), and I have a Masters in Education from USC (Fight On!), as well as Readers and Writers Workshop training from Columbia University’s Teachers College.
My husband and I have two daughters, Claire (3rd grade) and Emily (Kindergarten). Both are students at Lafayette Elementary.
On teaching, I have high standards and expectations for all of my students because I know that each and everyone of them is capable and can do it. Yes, it's going to be a different school year in virtual learning, but you will still receive a rigorous English curriculum (and a creative and connected class). I will be here to support each and every student along the way. I am always around to talk; so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year. I am looking forward to a fantastic year (in-person!) at Stanley!
Welcome to Room 201!
All My Best,
Rebecca Thompson
