Principal - Stanley Middle School

"Education is not the filling of a pail,

but the lighting of a fire."

William Butler Yeats

I am thrilled to begin another year as the principal of Stanley Middle School!  Stanley is widely admired for its supportive community, excellent teachers, and outstanding students, and I am honored and excited by the opportunity to foster and grow this amazing collaboration.  I know there are many people to meet and much to learn in this endeavor, and I genuinely look forward to each interaction in the weeks, months, and years to come.

I have worked in several school districts, but have spent most of my educational career right here in Lafayette.  In 1993 I joined Stanley Middle School as a 6th-grade teacher and worked here for many years as a teacher and staff coach.  After my husband entered graduate school I left Stanley for several years, during which time I worked for the Boston Public School District and had my two children.  In 2007, I returned to teaching 7th grade at Stanley and in 2013 became the Assistant Principal and then Principal in 2017.  Wherever my educational career has taken me, I have looked to the Stanley as an exemplar - a place where people come together successfully to create outstanding educational opportunities for children.  It is no surprise that I have always come back to this great school where I am so proud to work.

I have always appreciated the excellence this amazing school district offers each child, but no more so than as a parent of children who have directly benefited from it, first at Lafayette Elementary School, then Stanley Middle School, and now at Acalanes High School where my youngest is soon to be a junior.  My husband and I are deeply grateful for the opportunities that are afforded our two boys and my greatest goal is to ensure that these opportunities continue to be provided to every child at Stanley including.

Middle school is the time to ignite the fire for learning in students.  The teachers at Stanley make this happen through their passion and dedication and, in turn, I will strive to support the work that they do each day.  I know that this a team effort with every parent, teacher, and staff member working together, so I will find ways to build even stronger teams and foster the Wildcat Spirit.  I look forward to working together with students, staff, and parents to continue making Stanley a place where every student’s social, emotional, and academic needs are fulfilled.  Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, comments, concerns, or if you’d simply like to get to know me a little better.
