It is my goal to build student's math resilience and flexibility.

We do not focus on memorizing algorithms but on recognizing patterns and relationships and learning when and how to use tools to help with problem solving.

What makes a real math student?

1.      Look calmly at math problems and try different strategies on frustrating problems.

2.      Be open to trying new ways of doing a problem.

3.      Explain how you got your answer and talk to a partner about how they got their answer.

4.      Explain your answers with drawing and math equations, not just words.

5.      Figure out which operations you need to do.

         Multiplication? Division? Addition? Subtraction?

6.      Check your answers! Are they reasonable?
