Core Supplies

Please come to school with a writing utensil (pencil or black/blue pen).

Stanley planner (to record work to be completed).

You will always need to have an independent reading book in your backpack.

A reusable water bottle is also a good idea to have with you at all times.

Dear Parents and Students,

As your Core teacher, I’d like to welcome you to an exciting new year of learning and growing.  Your first year of middle school will build upon what you’ve already learned in elementary school and teach you, the student, self-advocacy skills.

Core class consists of three subjects: Language Arts, Reading, and History. You will receive two official grades: a grade in each Language Arts combined with Reading, and a grade in History. A progress report will be sent home if your grade is lower than a C.  Report cards will be sent home at the end of each trimester. But, you will also have the ability to check your progress by logging on to School Loop. Please make sure both student and parent(s) have an account (see the letter sent home on 8/13).

As for me, this will be my seventeenth year teaching at Stanley, and I truly enjoy Sixth-Grade Core! I have many plans in store for the coming year. We will become archaeologists, learn about early humans, and travel back in time to visit ancient civilizations. In addition, as readers you will have the opportunity to discover new authors, and as writers you will practice writing in different genres.  I hope that you will finish sixth grade as lifelong learners, eager to face new challenges with confidence. Parents will receive more detailed information about Core on Back to School Night, Thursday, August 29th (please mark your calendars).

Following is the link for the parent/guardian survey about your child - Family Survey. Please complete this before BTSN, Thursday, August 29th. Thank you so very much in advance.

School Loop - Please create School Loop accounts ASAPP for both parent and student - these must be separate. I appreciate your help with this.

Chromebooks - If you plan on using a Chromebook for school and home use, please make sure both the parent and student read the Chromebook Contract. If you agree to the requirements, please complete and print the following Chromebook Permission/Agreement Form and return to me by Friday, 8/16.

I’m looking forward to a great year in Core with you.
