Meet the Librarian

My teaching career began here in Lafayette as a young student teacher and I loved LAFSD so much I never left!  I have taught first, fifth, sixth and eighth grades in our district.  I even met my husband here at Stanley: Chris Stevens, a Stanley former woodshop teacher of 35 years.  We raised three children who all attended Lafayette public schools.  I was a sixth grade Core teacher at Stanley right next door to the library when I became intrigued with the idea of the library evolving into a media center focusing on both print and digital resources.  I began my career as the Stanley Librarian and District Librarian in 2000 and completed a Library Media Teacher Credential and Masters Degree in Library and Information Science at SJSU in 2003.

Teaching with our staff of amazing teachers and supporting student learning keeps my job busy and exciting.  Middle school students are dynamic and enthusiastic.  I hope to help them with everything from how to access the most reliable and academically sound information on subscription databases to finding a great story.  With a strong volunteer program here at the library, we are able to provide ongoing events to engage the students.  Please check out the library web page for more information.  The library is open 8-4 Mon.- Fri.

I welcome you to the library to check out our beautiful facility.  Stop by and say hi. I look forward to a great school year!
