JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2019

SCHOOL EVENTS:

  • WILDCATS ON STAGE TECH/PRODUCTION CREW (Performances: April 18 and 20; Rehearsal: TBD the week before the performances; Location: Del Valle Theatre: 1963 Tice Valley Blvd, Walnut Creek, CA 94595); Help with the Wildcats on Stage production of Spamalot by assisting as part of the production crew for the stage, sound, lighting, etc.  To help with the performances, you must commit to attending all rehearsals.  Please email Mr. Mangold if you are interested in volunteering.  Volunteer opportunities are limited and the deadline to sign-up is March 25.  Please note that rehearsals and performances are at the Del Valle Theatre, not Stanley Middle School.

 

COMMUNITY EVENTS:

  • BURTON VALLEY SCIENCE FAIR (March 20; 5-8pm; Burton Valley Elementary); Help with the Burton Valley Science Fair.  Volunteer roles include: helping at the LPIE science table, rocket support, circuit station, set-up, clean-up, or student guest scientist.  Please visit the link below for more information and to sign up.

  • HAPPY VALLEY SCIENCE FAIR (March 21; 5-8pm; Happy Valley Elementary); Help set up for the Happy Valley Elementary Science Fair, stick around to help it run smoothly, and/or assist with clean-up.  Please visit the link below for more information and to sign up.

  • LAFAYETTE ELEMENTARY INTERNATIONAL NIGHT (March 21; 5:30-7:30pm; Lafayette Elementary);  Help with Lafayette Elementary's 17th Annual International Night.  They need a lot of helping hands to staff each craft and activity station, including face painting and Henna tattoos.  Many of the stations would be fun to do with a friend.

  • LAFAYETTE CREEK DAY VOLUNTEER (April 27, 10am-1pm; Brook Street Park: 3562 Brook St., Lafayette); Help with trash clean up and removal of invasive plant species, and learn about our creeks and local riparian ecosystem.  Click here to view a brochure about the event.  If you volunteer, you must bring a signed release form and to get credit you must get a Gold Slip signed by the event coordinator, Phil Bradley.
  • LITTLE LEAGUE: MAY FORTH BE WITH YOU DAY (May 4, 9:30am-3:30pm; Buckeye Little League Fields);  Help with Lafayette Little League's Star Wars themed carnival.  For more information and to sign up, please visit this link: Here

 

ON-GOING STANLEY EVENTS:
  • LUNCHTIME BIN MONITORING: Help our environment and school by helping educate and encourage our students to properly sort and separate their waste.  Follow this link to learn more about being a bin monitor and to sign up.  If you have questions, please see Mr. Mangold or Mrs. Shegoian.

  • STANLEY CAFE (Hot Lunch Window): Help PTA volunteers sell food and drinks for Stanley Cafe on Wednesday mornings.  Student volunteers show up at 8am to help with set-up and assist in the cafe until 9:15am (1.25 hour shift).  If you are interested in being a Stanley Cafe student volunteer, please follow this link.  If you have questions, please email Mr. Mangold.

  • LUNCH BUDDY PROGRAM (Rooms 205, 206 and 307): Once a week (45min/0.75 hour every week) for the whole trimester (consistency is necessary). Bring a lunch and join the students in Mrs. Bertrand, Ms. Reynolds, and Ms. Walker's classes. Their students love to talk to their lunch buddies, attend campus clubs, draw, read, go outside and have fun. If you are interested in this program, please contact Ms. Reynolds (Room 206).

  • LOST AND FOUND (Lost and Found; outside office): Every Thursday, two students may sign up to help sort and organize the Lost and Found with a parent volunteer.  Students should show up to the Lost and Found at lunch, after the 10-minute bell, and check in with the office if the parent volunteer isn't there.  Students will get 30 minutes of service time for each lunch they help. For more information, contact Mr. Mangold.

  • AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS: Visit the bulletin board in the hallway of the Gym or speak with Mrs. Anke to learn about opportunities to help out with after-school sports.  

  • BALL BOX MONITOR: Help check in and out balls and sports equipment during lunchtime.  Have a friend join you, and you both get Opp. Knocks credit.  Email Mr. Mangold if you are interested.

ONLY add your name to open rows.  Please do not change any other content or names on the sign up sheets.  If there are no open rows, the event is full.  All changes are tracked by user.
